Marketing major Kyle Niemi and his internship with Mesensei mobile mentoring

Senior marketing major Kyle Niemi stopped by Finlandia Fridays this week to discuss his internship with Finnish mobile mentoring company Mesensei. Tuukka Ylälahti, the creator of Mesensei, was in an earlier episode this season, where he previewed the app and his inspiration behind it.

Dr. Carolyn Dekker featured in Lake Superior-region journal

Finlandia evening QuickBooks course starts March 13, open to community

The Finlandia University International School of Business is offering a one-credit course titled BUS206 Accounting Software for Small Business on Tuesday evenings beginning March 13 from 6:10 – 7:40 p.m. The course is open to community members for $75.

50th episode celebration with leaders of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes

This week Finlandia Fridays celebrated the airing of its 50th episode with leaders of a new group on campus, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Tyler Browner and Jean Pimentel are both active members in the group and came to share their stories of how they ended up at Finlandia and what FCA has done for them.

Finlandia Fridays received a taste of Africa this week when René Johnson and Christina Krider came to talk about Service and Learning in Tanzania.

Library of Congress makes Dr. Virtanen’s speech available

In October Assistant Professor of Finnish and Nordic Studies Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen was welcomed to Washington D.C. to be one of three panelists at the Library of Congress for an Embassy of Finland symposium exploring the history and future of the Finnish language. Saint-Onge named Director of Admissions

Finlandia University has named alumnus Collin Saint-Onge (’14) to the role of Director of Admissions.

“I’m excited because I hope to make an impact not only on Finlandia, but the surrounding community as well,” Saint-Onge said. “I see this as an opportunity to change the landscape of Finlandia for the better.”

Women’s hockey team hosting benefit for CC Humane Society

Finlandia University women’s hockey team is hosting a fundraiser, Paws for Pucks, on Saturday, February 3 for the Copper Country Humane Society. The event will coincide with the Lions game against St. Scholastica at 12:30 p.m. at the Houghton County Arena.

There will be raffle prizes and a jersey auction. All proceeds will go to the humane society.
