Dr. Virtanen to Present at Sonderegger Symposium on U.P. Studies Nov. 6

Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen, Assistant Professor of Finnish & Nordic Studies at Finlandia University, will present her research on Yooper stereotypes at Northern Michigan University’s annual Sonderegger Symposium on Upper Peninsula Studies on Friday, November 6. ISAD program undergoing changes for Fall 2021

Finlandia’s International School of Art & Design (ISAD) will be undergoing program changes beginning in the Fall 2021. 

Beginning fall 2021, FinnU will no longer accept new students into the Fiber & Fashion, Intermedia, and Ceramic Design bachelor degree programs. These programs are not completely closed, but enrollment interest over the years has waned and ISAD Dean Denise Vandeville says the programs will be suspended until enrollment interest grows and the school can sustain its re-emergence. Alpha Lambda Delta Chapter Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

This year, Finlandia’s Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) chapter celebrates its fifth anniversary. The ALD is a National Honor Society for First-Year Success and to become a member, students must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first semester at Finlandia.

International School of Business Launches New E-Newsletter

The Finlandia International School of Business (ISB) has launched a new e-newsletter. The e-newsletter allows people to stay up-to-date on the ISB alumni, faculty and program news. Currently, the newsletter is scheduled to go out once a semester, but Kevin Manninen, Dean of the ISB, is eager to make the newsletter more frequent. The first newsletter released on Monday, Sept. 28 and can be viewed here.

Dorst to Lead FinnU Career Services at Seaton Center for Vocation & Career

Emma Dorst has joined Finlandia as the new Director of Career Services for the new Seaton Center for Vocation and Career (CVC). Dorst has a background in helping people find jobs, which is why she’s so excited to begin helping students make the transition from their educational career to their professional career.
