Finlandia University is authorized by the State of Michigan, by virtue of its articles of incorporation, to operate an institution of higher learning granting degrees of any nature. Finlandia University is listed in the State of Michigan directory of approved institutions of higher learning.

CAPTE grants specialized accreditation status to qualified entry-level education programs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. CAPTE is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Specialized accreditation is a system for recognizing professional education programs for a level of performance, integrity, and quality that entitles them to the confidence of the educational community and the public they serve. Accreditation status signifies that the program meets established and nationally accepted standards of scope, quality, and relevance. Once awarded accreditation status, a program must submit reports regularly to the Commission ensuring continuing compliance with the evaluative criteria. Each program is formally reviewed every five to 10 years.

BSN Nursing Program Accreditation

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Finlandia University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

Initial Approval Received from the MI Board of Nursing: January 10, 2003. Program Accreditation Received from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE): April 21, 2007; Renewed October 10, 2011; Next renewal date is October 2021.

Certified Medical Assistant Program Accreditation

The Finlandia University Certified Medical Assistant Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
