Growth at Finlandia, largest incoming class in five years

This fall, Finlandia University’s overall enrollment grew by six percent with the on-campus student population increasing by nine percent. This full-time-equivalent growth brought 25 more students to campus than in fall 2020, giving Finlandia an enrollment of 430. The fall 2021 incoming class is the largest since 2016 with Finlandia’s International School of Business realizing an all-time high of 137 degree-seeking majors. Finlandia University’s International School of Art & Design (ISAD) 2021 Bachelor of Fine Arts Diploma Works Exhibition is featured from April 28 to July 22, 2021, at the Finlandia University Gallery. The Finlandia University Gallery is located in the Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock.

Alumna Brooke Cummings joins FinnU marketing team

Finlandia University alumna Brooke Cummings (’12, Illustration) has joined the Finlandia marketing team as a communication and design specialist. Cummings has been working as a freelance graphic designer since graduating from the International School of Art & Design. Cummings’ main role will be creating print and digital pieces for the university.

“I’m hoping to bring a little splash of creativity to the table,” said Cummings. “I’m excited to eventually work on a big project, like the Bridge.”

Ceramics Major, Ramona Kuhn, named 2021 Student Representative

With graduation less than a month away, the Class of 2021 Student Representative, Ramona Kuhn, caught up with host Olivia Myers to talk about her time at Finlandia.

Student Spotlight: Valerie Helminen, Graphic Design

Sophomore Valerie Helminen, a graphic design major from Calumet, Mich. couldn’t seem to find the right fit when it came to colleges. Having previously attended Michigan Tech and four other schools, Helminen was looking for her next move. Virtual ISAD Student Juried Exhibit and Fashion Show happening April 1

A juried exhibit of artwork by students in the Finlandia University International School of Art & Design (ISAD) is featured at the Finlandia University Gallery from March 26 through April 20, 2021.

A Zoom reception for the artists will take place on Thursday, April 1, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. A video of the student and alumni fashion show will be presented during the zoom reception, followed by a presentation of awards for artistic excellence.

Introducing the Embrace Your Sisu Competition
