Cyril FoxPetrov joins Business Office as Accounting Manager

Finlandia University is pleased to welcome Cyril FoxPetrov to its business office as the Accounting Manager. 

FoxPetrov was born and raised in Madison, Wis., and he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in Accounting in 2014, and earned his Masters in Professional Accountancy in 2015.

Max Malone (’14), has been busy since graduating from Finlandia University with a degree in English. He’s held a number of jobs including being a tutor, a survey drafter and fiber designer, content producer and creative writer. Lauren Huested and Jason Dart Join Admissions Office

Lauren Huested and Jason Dart joined Finlandia’s admissions team as enrollment officers in the beginning of October. 

Both Huested and Dart spent the earlier years of their lives in southern Michigan, with Dart being from Lansing and moving to Virginia when he was 13, and Huested growing up in the town of Newago, about an hour away from Grand Rapids. Changes to the Spring 2021 Academic Calendar

At the recommendation of Finlandia’s Safe Start Task Force, there will be changes made to the Academic Calendar for the Spring 2021 semester. These adjustments are designed to reduce our community’s risk of exposure to COVID-19 by limiting the amount of travel occurring within the semester. Among the approved revisions:

Volunteers Needed for Mobile Food Pantry Nov. 5

Finlandia volunteers at the 2018 Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry in Ontonagon.

On Thursday, November 5, Finlandia University will be hosting a Mobile Food Pantry in the parking lot between Old Main and the Chapel of St. Mattew. Organized through Feeding American West Michigan, mobile food pantries help fill the gap in hunger needs in a community, by supplementing the ongoing work of local pantries with much needed fresh produce, meat, and dairy. ISAD program undergoing changes for Fall 2021

Finlandia’s International School of Art & Design (ISAD) will be undergoing program changes beginning in the Fall 2021. 

Beginning fall 2021, FinnU will no longer accept new students into the Fiber & Fashion, Intermedia, and Ceramic Design bachelor degree programs. These programs are not completely closed, but enrollment interest over the years has waned and ISAD Dean Denise Vandeville says the programs will be suspended until enrollment interest grows and the school can sustain its re-emergence. Student Nurses Association Hosting Blood Drive Oct. 27

The Finlandia University Student Nurses Association (FUSNA) will be hosting a Blood Drive on Oct. 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew. Donors will go to the Chapel to complete paperwork and check vital signs before donating in the bloodmobile, which will be parked in the Old Main parking lot. 

The FUSNA is partnering with UP Health Systems Regional Blood Center to sponsor the event.

Albert Hammond (’20) Joins Finlandia’s Business Office

Albert Hammond (’20) recently joined Finlandia’s Business office as an Accountant.

Hammond grew up in Elk Rapids, Mich., and graduated from Finlandia this past spring, with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a specialization in Accounting.
