Finlandia business students study abroad in Finland

Student loan interest rates fall to lowest levels in a decade

In mid-May the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities published the following story on student loan interest rates, which have been dropped to the lowest they’ve been in 10 years.

“This is great news for our students and their families,” Director of Student Financial Services Sandy Turnquist said. “We watch these rates carefully because we know this will affect the day-to-day lives of many students.”

Finlandia University Residential Life has partnered with College-Ave to make life easier for those living in Finlandia Hall this fall.

“Everything a student needs to comfortably and stylishly live in Finn Hall is available through College-Ave,” Coordinator of Residential Life Leann Fogle said. “Plus, it can get delivered right to the dorm so it will be ready for the student upon arrival.”

119 recognized for spring 2016 academic achievement

Finlandia University is proud to announce its spring 2016 dean’s and honors list. The lists include 119 students, including 76 on the dean’s list for earning a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.

Sara Martin highlighted in Ponsse Network Bulletin

Finlandia University is proud to have once again have a student from the International School of Business interning with Ponsse Corporation in Finland. This year’s intern is junior Sara Martin, a business management major who also plays on Finlandia’s hockey team and serves on Student Senate.

Finlandia continues work on Terry Talo Lion’s Den at McAfee Field

On Monday a crew from LJJ Construction, Inc. will continue work on the first phase of the athletics fieldhouse at McAfee Field. The building which will house the Terry Talo Lion’s Den.

The project is expected to be finished in early August. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 3, during the football team’s home opener against Concordia College.

Finlandia University has been named one of 30 Great Small Colleges for Book Lovers by About Great Books. The article was published on the organization’s website in May.

The colleges on this list were chosen for reasons including their extraordinary libraries or other resources for book lovers, their unique dedication to the “great books,” or because they are home to a highly sought-after English and literature department.

Finlandia University students and their families are invited to save 5 percent on tuition by paying their bill, either for the full year or the fall semester, by June 30.

TRiO Upward Bound, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture to help nourish high school students this summer

This summer, from June 13 to July 14, 2016, approximately 35 area high school students will experience the daily routines of college freshmen on the Finlandia University campus.

The TRiO Upward Bound summer students live in the Finlandia residence hall, attend demanding daily classes, complete homework, meet new people, and, of course, eat three meals daily in Finlandia’s cafeteria.
