Suomi College of Arts & Sciences Invites All to Senior Capstone Presentations

The time of year has come for Finlandia University seniors to begin wrapping up their studies, and begin to think about the future. Suomi College of Arts & Sciences (SCAS) seniors will be presenting on their capstones Thursday, May 2 in Wargelin Hall in Classroom 303.

SCAS Capstones are projects theorized, researched, completed and presented upon by senior students here at FinnU. For the last few years, Finlandia has opened its doors and welcomed anyone to come for the presentations.

J.P. Morgan Manager and Recent Grad, Dan Weldon (’17), Makes a Case for Liberal Arts

Dan Weldon (‘17) is an ambitious man. As a Regulatory Controls Manager at J.P. Morgan in Chicago, he is showing that a degree in sociology can be beneficial in the business world.

Weldon, originally from northern Chicago, transferred to Finlandia University after spending two years majoring in business at the University of Pittsburgh.

Introducing Dr. Michael Reay, Professor of Sociology

Finlandia University is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Reay as the new Assistant Professor of Sociology.

Reay comes to Finlandia with over 20 years of higher educational teaching experience. He earned his BA in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge and his Master’s and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago. This week on Finlandia Fridays, professor Dr. Claudia Youakim and senior sociology major Hailee Johnson join the program to touch on a very compelling capstone project through the Suomi College of Arts & Sciences (SCAS).
