Fall 2021 Hancock Promise recipients announced

Through an educational collaboration between Finlandia University and Hancock Central High School, the Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of up to only $2,500 per school year. Hancock Central held their graduation ceremony Saturday, May 29, following a senior parade that proceeded down Quincy Street. Finlandia Alumni Board hosting Giving Day 2021 to raise money for textbook awards

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting their third Giving Day on June 16, 2021. The day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks and will feature Facebook and social media announcements, information on textbook costs, and conversations with past textbook award winners and FAB members!

$1000 Finlandia Visiting Scholarship Deadline Extended to August 1

Finlandia University is extending its $1,000 Visiting Scholarship deadline to August 1, 2021. This scholarship is only available to first-time full-time students in good standing at the University entering Fall 2021. To receive this award, visits must be scheduled through the admissions office.

Finlandia is currently offering a virtual and in-person option for campus visits. Both qualify for the $1000 Visiting Scholarship.

Embrace Your Sisu Winners Announced

Emily Nelson’s submission. Nelson won the People’s Choice Award.

Finlandia University is excited to announce the winners of the Embrace Your Sisu Scholarship competition. 14 participants submitted their finished lion coloring page and two winners were selected. The People’s Choice Winner with 2,552 votes was Emily Nelson from Ishpeming, MI, who will be entering Finlandia in the fall of 2021.

Applications Open for 2021 Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing

Update 2/25: The scholarship deadline has been extended to Wednesday, March 10. This article has been updated to reflect that change.

Nursing students heading into their junior or senior year with a GPA between 3.00 to 3.49 may be eligible for the Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing. Application deadline for the scholarship is Thursday, March 10.

Treasury MI providing Virtual College Financial Aid Nights throughout Feb.

Students and families looking for help paying for college are encouraged to register for a Virtual College Financial Aid Night provided by Treasury’s MI Student Aid team. Sessions will be available every Tuesday and Thursday evening during the month of February from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST.

Participants will be able to gather information on the following financial aid topics:

Giving Tuesday brings in over $30K for student scholarships

Finlandia alumni and friends donated over $30,000 for FinnU’s Giving Tuesday efforts on Dec. 1, 2020. In total, 61 donors raised $30,087 for student scholarships. This total includes the $10,000 anonymous match that kicked off the event.

“Once again, Finlandia’s friends and alumni stepped up to support student scholarships,” said President Philip Johnson. “A special thank you to the generous heart behind the anonymous $10,000 Giving Tuesday match.”
