Rise Together Scholarship – Full Free Tuition

The Rise Together Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that, when combined with federal and state scholarships and grants, covers a student’s entire tuition costs and aligns with Finlandia’s mission of providing affordable higher education to all. The Rise Together Scholarship can be applied to all four years of tuition at Finlandia University. You can learn more about the Rise Together Scholarship at finlandia.edu/freetuition.

Traditional Scholarships

If you aren’t eligible for the Rise Together or Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship, our Traditional Scholarship Packages are meant for you! All institutional scholarship amounts are per academic year and require full-time enrollment status. Some exclusions may apply.

How it works:

Our scholarship packages are offered based on GPA and where you’re from. It’s really that simple!

Types:

Yooper

  • All Upper Peninsula high school graduates & transfers from U.P. colleges with less than 6 college credits.

Northern Neighbors

  • All Canadian students.

Sisu

  • Students not eligible for Yooper or Northern Neighbors Scholarships.

Transfer Student Scholarships

All students transferring into Finlandia with a 2.0 GPA or higher and a minimum of 6 college credits are eligible for one of our Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarships. (Dual Enrollment credits must be from Finlandia University)

Yooper Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship – $12,000

  • Upper Peninsula high school graduates & transfers from U.P. colleges.

Northern Neighbors Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship – $12,000

  • Canadian students only.

Sisu Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship – $11,000

  • Students not eligible for Yooper or Northern Neighbors Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarships.

Scholarship Add-Ons


These unique scholarship add-on opportunities combine with your base scholarship package to make a high-quality education in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula even more affordable.

$1,000 Housing Grant

  • All non-transfer students living on campus are eligible for a $1,000 renewable housing grant.

$1,000 Early Commitment

  • The first 50 students to commit to Finlandia University for the Fall 2023 term will be eligible to receive a one-year, non-renewable $1,000 scholarship.

$1,000 Native American Tribal Scholarship

  • The first 10 Native American tribe members to commit to Finlandia University for the Fall 2023 term will be eligible to receive a one-year, non-renewable $1,000 scholarship.

$1,000 Family/Legacy

  • All students whose grandparents, parents, and/or siblings have graduated from or are currently attending (full-time) Finlandia University are eligible to receive a $1,000 renewable scholarship.

$1,000 Church Matching Scholarship

  • Matches up to $1,000 pledged by a church.

$1,000 – $2,000 Esports Scholarship

  • Interested in Esports? Both competitors and production roles for our varsity teams are eligible for a renewable $1,000 or $2,000 scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to select students that meet the following:

$1,000 Riku Mascot Scholarship

  • Do you have school spirit? The Riku Scholarship may be the perfect opportunity for you! Available to all Finlandia students who meet the scholarship’s requirements, the Riku Scholarship will offer up to $1,000 for each semester the scholarship is available. See details below.
