Finlandia alumni and friends donated over $30,000 for FinnU’s Giving Tuesday efforts on Dec. 1, 2020. In total, 61 donors raised $30,087 for student scholarships. This total includes the $10,000 anonymous match that kicked off the event.

Perhaps no one sees how important scholarships are for students more than university staff members. For Giving Tuesday, several Finlandia University staff members shared some of their favorite experiences and success stories regarding student scholarships.
Finlandia University will be raising money for student scholarships on Giving Tuesday which takes place on December 1. Finlandia donors can double their gifts this Giving Tuesday, as an anonymous donor has pledged to match the first $10,000 raised.
Last year, Finlandia’s Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $60,000 in 24 hours. All donations received last year went toward FinnU’s annual scholarship programs to help keep FinnU affordable for current and future students.

This week, Finlandia Fridays host Olivia Myers talks with Financial Aid Counselor Marie Bonenfant about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which opened on Oct. 1. The pair talked about why it’s important for all students to complete and how submitting it allows FinnU’s financial aid office to see what scholarships, grants and federal loans a student is eligible for.
