Enrollment officers, Jason Dart and Lauren Huested are ready to show off campus

Enrollment officers, Lauren Huested and Jason Dart, joined Olivia Myers on Finlandia Fridays this week to discuss why now is the best time to schedule a campus visit. In addition, to the $1,000 Visiting Scholarship students can receive for completing an in-person or virtual visit, Dart and Huested highlighted that there’s never been a safer time during the COVID-19 pandemic to visit.

“Right now is a great time to physically visit campus,” said Dart. “The reason being there are no students right now on campus, so we’re finally able to show the dorms again. We can’t get into Finlandia Hall when students are present, just as a precaution for COVID-19. And that’s a big deal for students when they’re trying to make a decision for college. They want to know ‘where am I going to eat and sleep every day?’.”

Huested added that all visitors are required to wear a mask and that the admissions meetings are conducted in classrooms to allow for social distancing. FinnU also offers students from outside the area to utilize a townhouse owned by the university as lodging during their visit. The townhouse if available free of charge for students and their families.

For students who do not wish to make the trip to campus, Huested also added that a virtual option is also available.

“While students don’t get a face-to-face meeting, they do have the same experience of being able to talk with admissions, financial aid, a campus tour video, and talk with coaches, if they are an athletic prospect,” said Huested.

In order to qualify for the $1,000 Visiting Scholarship, students need to schedule their visit by May 1, 2021. To learn more about and schedule an in-person or virtual campus visit please go to finlandia.edu/visit.
