Stressing over finals? This can help! Finals week survival guide Winter 2018

December 6, 2018

Finals Week Survival Guide

Finals are stressful. It’s not a question, or up for debate, they just are. As a university, we are here to help make this hard time of the semester as easy for you as possible. That’s why we’ve put together a little survival guide to help you get through Finals Week, and don’t worry we’ll be sending out reminders about all of these events on the Finlandia Snapchat. Follow along @finlandiau.

First and foremost, kick off finals week with Late Night Tutoring and Late Night Breakfast. Finlandia Hall’s Cafe opens its doors at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 9 to kick off finals week with Late Night Tutoring with the TRIO Tutors. Stick around till 10 p.m. to get some free breakfast prepared and served by the Finlandia Staff.

Need some coffee after being up late studying and eating pancakes?! Listen to Lion Around, Finlandia Podcast Network’s student-run podcast. There is a whole episode dedicated to keeping the Keweenaw caffeinated. And if one episode isn’t enough, there is a semester’s worth of episodes all about what it’s like to be a college student.

Now you’ve got your coffee from one of the best places in town, go get some snacks and holiday cheer at TRIO’s Christmas/Finals open house on Monday, December 10. The holiday fun goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes food, cider and crafts, all to help you relax during this stressful week.

Too nervous to snack? Take a spin on a mat at the free yoga class offered in the Chapel of St. Matthew. Take some deep breaths, stretch those muscles and remember to take care of yourself. Yoga is  Monday, December 10 at noon.

You’re relaxed and full, it’s definitely time to get back to studying! The Maki Library has extended hours to help you get all of the study time in that you need. Head on over to the library web page to see what the hours this week and next week are.

Remember not to stress out too much over your exams and projects. To help, TRIO is bringing in some four-legged friends to help you paws your studying and get some pet therapy with your friends before you all go your separate ways for Christmas Break. Come give some goodest pups some pets and love Wednesday, December 12 from 3 to 5 p.m.

It’s finally over, the fall semester is in the rear view mirror! Now, you have to make sure you have enough time to shop for presents for your friends and family. Get a little extra cash in your pocket by heading down to North Wind Books before you make your way home this year. Trade in all those books you no longer need to help with those big ticket Christmas items.

Each semester, the Finlandia Faculty and Staff does their best to help you in any way we can through your finals. We are wishing you all good luck, and have a happy break.
