Finlandia Alumni Board raises $10,000 for student textbooks

On June 14, alumni, friends and family of Finlandia University joined together in support of Giving Day 2022 in an effort to raise money for student textbooks. Determined to find a way to give back to students, Finlandia’s Alumni Board (FAB) started Giving Day in 2019 and has since raised more than $60,000 in its efforts.

Giving Day 2022 starts now!

Join the Finlandia Alumni Board for a day dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board seeks to raise $10,000 and is looking to share this message to support their cause. To learn more about how to give back to Finlandia’s students, visit finlandia.edu/givingday. Every $250 awards another FinnU student a textbook scholarship!

Support student textbook awards on June 14

Giving Day 2022 is one week away!

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting its fourth Giving Day on June 14, 2022. The day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks.

In 2021, the FAB helped 49 students with their textbooks and was able to help fund two student support initiatives by donating to Finlandia’s Textbook Justice Library and North Wind Books. A year of anniversary celebrations will culminate in late June at Finlandia University, as the 125-year-old institution celebrates Juhannus (Midsummer) in a one-of-a-kind experience.

North Wind Books to celebrate 30th Anniversary with sales on Dec. 2 & 3

On the shores of Lake Superior in 1991, Patricia Van Pelt opened the Museum Shop at The Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.  Patricia’s shop would eventually outgrow the building space.  She would relocate the shop to her home in Eagle Harbor and rename it North Wind Books.

North Wind Books at Finlandia University will be hosting Angeline Boulley, author of New York Times Bestseller “Firekeeper’s Daughter”, for an author presentation and book signing on Thursday, September 30 starting at 3 p.m.

In July, Finlandia University announced the FinnU Vacc to School Challenge with the goal of reaching a campus wide vaccination status of 70 percent.
