Skijoring and Scholarships with Kat Hanson

March 18, 2022

Kat HansonThe Lake Effect Scholarship is here!

This week, Enrollment Counselor Kat Hanson skijors by the Finlandia Fridays set to talk with host Jordan Shawhan about the new Lake Effect Scholarship, which allows eligible commuting and on-campus living students to enjoy the benefits of cost-sharing education. Commuting students will have tuition reduced to $2,500 per year, earning their full bachelor’s degree for $10,000.

“For students who want to live on campus, they pay a little bit extra in room and board but again, that can be completely covered by student loans that you are eligible for,” Hanson said. “So, it’s really no out-of-pocket costs to earn your bachelor’s degree. That’s incredible.”

In addition, Hanson also touched on the FAFSA Priority Deadline for the State of Michigan being recently extended to May 1. Filing your FAFSA is one of the first steps in applying for financial aid at Finlandia University and is crucial in determining a student’s eligibility for Finlandia’s need-based scholarships like the Lake Effect Scholarship, the Rise Together Scholarship, which offers free full tuition, and the Western Great Lakes Scholarship, which is up to $4000 for students from Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.

Complete your FAFSA today at FAFSA.gov and be sure to input Finlandia’s FAFSA Code: 002322. Not sure how to get started or have questions? Reach out to Finlandia’s Student Financial Services and they’ll help guide you through the financial aid process.
