Mariah Dunham Gets Pumped for Homecoming

This week on Finlandia Fridays, head women’s basketball coach Mariah Dunham stopped by to talk with Olivia Myers about next week’s homecoming festivities.

This is Dunham’s second time on Finlandia Fridays, but her first discussing the activities surrounding homecoming after playing a multitude of roles in last years event. 

“I thought it went really well last year, said Dunham “ I’m back this year to help on what we can do to organize a bigger and better homecoming for the kids.”

Student leaders had the chance to choose a theme this year for the week of activities leading up to the game against Olivet College. It was decided the official spirit week theme would be Welcome to the Jungle. Dunham and Myers discuss their thoughts about each of the planned events including; pajama day Monday, twin Tuesday, camo Wednesday, throwback Thursday and safari Friday.

Dunham’s coaching nature come through as she flips the script on Myers at one point and asks the Finlandia Fridays host to talk about some of the other events the busy week has in store including Taste of Success with Stephen Szuber ’77 and the Student Senate Mock Rock event.

Dunham also comments on the fact that this is a great event not only for students but for alumni who can come back and support the school. On Saturday morning, the annual parade will go from Quincy Green to McAfee Field before the game starts against Olivet College at 1pm.
