Finlandia names head coach for revival of Lions Cross Country

Finlandia University will be adding to its slate of intercollegiate athletic programs this fall. Hired to lead the resurgence of Lions Cross Country in its first season since 2018 is Head Coach Tony Skiles.

Academic Achievement Committee names 2022 Honors & Awards recipients

For the first time in three years, Finlandia’s Academic Achievement Committee hosted the University’s annual Honors & Awards Banquet in person. Friends, families, faculty and staff gathered in Martha Wiljanen Hall at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center on Friday, April 8 to celebrate the students who have been selected to receive endowed scholarships and honors.

Diversity Dinner menu brings world of taste to Finlandia Hall Cafe on April 20

A Finlandia tradition that is sponsored by the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, Diversity Dinner features dishes that are made from recipes submitted by FinnU students, faculty and staff. This event celebrates the unique backgrounds of the diverse Finlandia student body and highlights a different culture for each dish.

Hancock Promise application deadline extended to May 1 for Hancock grads

Finlandia’s Hancock Promise deadline has been extended to May 1. This means Hancock Central High School students who are interested in attending FinnU in Fall 2022 will have additional time to start their application process.

The Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of up to only $2,500 per school year. Beginning in 2009, approximately 18-26 students have taken advantage of the program annually.

Applications now open for 2022-23 Portage Health Foundation Scholarship at Finlandia University

Applications are now being accepted for the Portage Health Foundation Scholarship opportunity to Finlandia University students studying healthcare and coming from Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga or Ontonagon counties. The scholarship can be awarded to the same person for up to four years.

This scholarship is open to returning and incoming FinnU students.

Michigan’s FAFSA priority deadline extended to May 1

Michigan high school seniors who want to be given priority consideration for State of Michigan financial aid programs now have extra time to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, according to the Michigan Department of Treasury.
