Senior nursing major Arty Puntus is an international student from Belarus that currently serves as Finlandia University’s Student Senate President, a Student Ambassador with the Admissions Office, ALD Honors Society Member, the V.P. of FinnU’s Student Nurses Association and an Orientation Leader. Pausing his busy schedule for a few moments of reflection, Puntus joins Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about his journey as an international student at Finlandia, why he chose FinnU, his experience in the nursing program and much more!
“I would say around campus I really enjoy talking to people, I’m just a social guy,” Puntus said. “In Keweenaw, I really enjoyed going to hikes in the summertime. I really enjoyed going to the [Mount] Ripley and ski. I would say even playing bowling up at [Mine Shaft & Rock House] is fun too but my favorite, my absolute favorite, is $5 movies on Tuesdays.”
Puntus, who will be joining the workforce in South Carolina after graduation through an Optional Practical Training (OPT) program for international students, spoke highly of student life at Finlandia before he shared details about the OPT program and his passion for helping others.
“It’s been a great journey and I think that’s probably my best experience at Finlandia is the student life and having all the little memories with the students that we have here.”
