Day two of Festival Ruska brings Finnish food and yard game

A big thanks to everyone who made day one of Festival Ruska an amazing experience, but now it’s time to focus on day two which will introduce a couple unforgettable Finnish elements to the people of the Copper Country – mölkky, voisilmapulla and korvapuusi.

Your guide to day 1 of Festival Ruska

Festival Ruska kicks off Wednesday, September 27

The color season is nearing its peak in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, and with that we’ve arrived at Festival Ruska 2017! This is meant to be a guide to your day one, which is the busiest day of the third annual festival that’s hosted by Finlandia University.

Mobile Food Pantry in Baraga is tomorrow

Tomorrow the much-anticipated Mobile Food Pantry will take place in the parking lot of Baraga High School. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Mobile Pantry will contain a variety of foods, including fresh produce. Clients will not have to show identification or proof of income to receive food; however, they will be required to provide basic contact information and affirm that they are in need of food. They are encouraged to bring their own boxes and carts.

It is with great honor that Finlandia University and its Suomi College of Arts & Sciences department announces the constitutional essay winner, Nicholas Tobey.
