Previewing Diploma Works with Senior Miranda Conroy

Finlandia Fridays was visited this week by senior intermedia student, Miranda Conroy. Hailing from Ishpeming, Conroy will have her final undergraduate work featured with the rest of the graduating art students in this year’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Diploma Works exhibition. The exhibition will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m. in the Finnish American Heritage Center.

Finlandia Student Hannah Smith Hosting Exhibition at CCCAC

“Technique Magnifique” is an invitational exhibition of fiber art made by local and regional artists at the Copper Country Community Arts Center’s Kerredge Gallery through the May 4. Hannah Smith, intern and  graduating senior from Finlandia University’s International School of Art & Design curated this exhibition. She sought out work that was beyond the ordinary and demonstrated a particular technique.

Chassell High School Visits Finlandia University’s International School of Art & Design

In the last year, the International School of Art & Design has welcomed local high schools to visit, tour and experience all that the school has to offer.

Two Awarded Free Travel Abroad in Finland

As the school year comes to a close and students finalize their summer plans, two of Finlandia University’s students, Mindy Aho and Lindsey Johnson, will be traveling abroad to study at Haaga-Heila University of Applied Sciences in Finland tuition free.

The women took advantage of one of the many international partner opportunities Finlandia has to offer to students. The summer school will have a strong focus on the topics of service, sales and entrepreneurship.

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year…Late Night Breakfast & Tutoring

Finlandia University’s favorite finals kick off tradition is back! Late Night Breakfast is set for Sunday, April 28 at 10 p.m. in the Finlandia Café. Trio Student Support Services will also have tutors available in the Café from 7 to 10 p.m. A therapy dog will be available for lots of pets and being a very good dog starting at 7 p.m. in Finlandia Hall.

Suomi College of Arts & Sciences Invites All to Senior Capstone Presentations

The time of year has come for Finlandia University seniors to begin wrapping up their studies, and begin to think about the future. Suomi College of Arts & Sciences (SCAS) seniors will be presenting on their capstones Thursday, May 2 in Wargelin Hall in Classroom 303.

SCAS Capstones are projects theorized, researched, completed and presented upon by senior students here at FinnU. For the last few years, Finlandia has opened its doors and welcomed anyone to come for the presentations.

Finlandia University Graduation ceremony to be May 5, 2019

Finlandia University baccalaureate and commencement activities for the class of 2019 are scheduled for Sunday, May 5, on the university’s campus in Hancock.

Exercises for Graduation Day 2019 will begin Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with the Baccalaureate Worship Service at the Chapel of St. Matthew, and conclude with the Commencement Exercises at 1:30 p.m. at Paavo Nurmi Center.

Finlandia University, founded in 1896 as Suomi College, recognized its first group of graduates in 1904 with 12 students earning diplomas. [...]

Digging into Diversity Dinner with Dewan Keeling

Black Student Union President Dewan Keeling dropped by Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about his experiences at FinnU and the upcoming Diversity Dinner.  Keeling is a junior from Detroit, who is majoring in healthcare management.
