Final Session of Adulting 101 to Feature Alumni Panel

The fourth and final session of Adulting 101 will take place April 23 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew.

This last installment will feature Director of Global Initiatives Cat Fuller and a panel of young alumni. Fuller will be discussing post college options, outside of starting a career.

Finnish American Heritage Center Brings Vappu Celebration to Campus

Each year the country of Finland takes a break from their daily routines to pause and celebrate together. Vappu, celebrated on May 1, marks the end of winter. The holiday also serves as international recognition day of labor.

This year, the Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC) is hosting a Vappu (May Day) celebration at the FAHC on Wednesday, May 1 at 6 p.m.

Finlandia Recognized as One of the Best Christian Schools for Psych Majors

Finlandia University has been named one of the 2019 Best Christian Schools for Psychology Students by Psychology Degree Guide.

“It’s wonderful that Finlandia has been recognized as a university that has the resources available to fulfill students’ spiritual needs, making students happier, healthier and better equipped to reach their potential,” said Brittany Nelson, Visiting Professor of Psychology.

Third Session of Adulting 101 to Take Place on April 16

The third session of Adulting 101 will take place April 16 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.  at  the Chapel of St. Matthew.

This session will host three speakers. Accounting professor Laura Sieders will discuss the importance of budgeting and how to be a smart investor. How to navigate student loans will be presented by Director of Student Financial Services Sandy Turnquist. Finally, Human Resource Manager Alyson DeLandsheer will explain work benefits and what they mean.

Blast from the Past with Suomi College Alum, Detective Clem Papineau

Suomi College alum, Clem Papineau visited Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about his time in the Keweenaw.

Originally from Ontonagon, Papineau initially planned on going to Michigan State University. Papineau was approached by Suomi’s basketball coach at the time to play basketball. After looking into the school, Papineau said he was instantly hooked. Papineau ended up attending Suomi, but did not end up playing basketball.

International School of Business has a New Educational Partner

Finlandia University’s International School of Business is now a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) Educational Partner School. CGBP is overseen by the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE), a leading authority and industry standard for global business, education, trade credentialing, training and practice.

NASBITE wanted to develop a professional credential that would raise the level of practice in the field, provide professional development goals and showcase competency. The CGBP Student Pathway Program did just that and [...]

It’s Back! The Annual Diversity Dinner is April 23

One of Finlandia University’s most loved events is officially on the books for 2019. The Diversity Dinner is set to be held Tuesday, April 23 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Finlandia Hall Café.

Cuisine options include:

Mexican Puerto Rican Soul Food Finnish Cajun Vietnamese

The event is free for Finlandia students and $10 for the public. Come taste food from around the world as FinnU students cook food from countries of their national origin.

Laura Bianucci (‘13) to be Next “A Taste of Success” Presentation

Alumna Laura Bianucci is set to present on the topic of networking at the next A Taste of Success on Tuesday, April 16 in Mannerheim Central from 12 to 1 p.m.

Bianucci is a 2013 graduate of FinnU’s marketing program. She has held a few positions since graduation, but currently works as a recruiter for the Advanced Welding Institute in Eagle River, Wis. Bianucci is also a member of the Finlandia Alumni Board.

Blood Drive Hosted by SNA on April 17

Finlandia University’s Student Nurses’ Association is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, April 17 from 3 to 7 p.m. in front of Finlandia Hall. No pre-registration is required and all blood types are being accepted.

The blood drive is being put on in conjunction with the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center. Donated blood helps save lives throughout the U.P. There is currently a critical need for A-negative and O-negative.

Those interested in donating are encouraged to prepare by:
