Textbook buyback begins this week

Textbook Buyback will be at North Wind Books on the campus of Finlandia University on April 21-23 and 26-30. This is an opportunity for students to get top dollar back for textbooks after they’re done using them. All textbooks purchased by cash, check, credit card, financial aid, or sponsorship are eligible for buy back. Finlandia Fridays Discusses Graduation 2021

This week on Finlandia Fridays, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Fredi DeYampert talks about, for some Finlandia students, the most magical moment of the year, Graduation 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the day will look different compared to a normal year, but pandemic or not, achieving a college degree is still an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Most Finlandia students, faculty, and staff have heard the term sisu thrown around in conversations or even marketing materials on campus. The word is nothing new to FinnU, but in the United Kingdom, that may be otherwise. $1000 Visiting Scholarship Deadline Extended

Finlandia University is extending its $1,000 Visiting Scholarship deadline to August 1, 2021. This scholarship is only available to first-time full-time students in good standing at the University entering Fall 2021. To receive this award, visits must be scheduled through the admissions office.

Finlandia is currently offering a virtual and in-person option for campus visits. Both qualify for the $1000 Visiting Scholarship.

Ceramics Major, Ramona Kuhn, named 2021 Student Representative

With graduation less than a month away, the Class of 2021 Student Representative, Ramona Kuhn, caught up with host Olivia Myers to talk about her time at Finlandia.

Student Spotlight: McEwen Stapleton, Management & Entrepreneurship

When McEwen Stapleton transferred to Finlandia University from Hope College, he was looking for a place where he could be himself. 

“Overall, I’m an outdoor-oriented individual and Hope College is dead-center in Holland,” said Stapleton, who is originally from Frankfort, Mich. “I am thankful for my experiences there, but it just didn’t feel like me. In their second episode, FinnU Overview hosts and International School of Business students Jakob Vettori (Marketing) and Joe Watson (Accounting) make the case for staying in the Keweenaw over the summer. COVID-19 Updates on Quarantine, Testing, Food Assistance for Students

Quarantine

Finlandia University, in cooperation with MDHHS recommendations, will begin instituting a 14-day quarantine for close contacts of COVID-19 positive individuals. This is an increase from the previous recommendation of 10 days. The full release from MDHSS is below:
