Student Affairs welcome Alex Hilterbrand as Director of Student Engagement

Alex Hilterbrand, FinnU’s new Director of Student Engagement, was welcomed into the student affairs staff this past November 2021. Although this will be Alex’s first experience working in higher education, her background and education play important roles as to why she has been selected to help with expanding student engagement at Finlandia.

Finlandia celebrates 125th Anniversary

A semester of celebration culminated on Sunday, Dec. 5 in a full day of dance, musical performances and worship. Dozens of Finlandia University friends and family members gathered to commemorate the institution’s 125th Anniversary alongside the observance of a now 104-year-long tradition, Finnish Independence Day.

David Maki, Interim Director of the Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC) on Finlandia’s campus, delivered the Independence Day program’s opening remarks.

Enrollment Counselor Jason Dart introduces Early Bird Scholarship on Finlandia Fridays

Eager to talk about the new Early Bird Scholarship, Finlandia Fridays bring on Enrollment Counselor Jason Dart to discuss topics like “Who can apply?”, Finlandia’s expedited admissions process and tips for how students and families can maximize their financial aid opportunities. Early Bird Scholarship available for incoming students who submit transcripts by Jan. 1

Finlandia University is awarding a new, one-time $500 scholarship for Fall 2022 to students who submit their transcripts to Finlandia Admissions by Jan. 1, 2022. The Early Bird Scholarship is awarded to the student upon acceptance to the university.

FinnU raises money for student scholarships

Finlandia alumni, friends and families donated nearly $11,000 toward student scholarships on Giving Tuesday this year. In total, 50 donors raised $10,976 for scholarships such as the Lake Effect Scholarship, Western Great Lakes Scholarship and Rise Together Scholarship, a need-based free full-tuition scholarship established in 2020.

Donors heard stories from FinnU students throughout the day such as Student Ambassador Danny Zuchak, a Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship recipient and student-athlete.

Join us at 10:30 a.m. for Sunday Worship at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock, MI and then join us again at 1:00 p.m. for a special, one-of-a-kind 125th Anniversary Edition of Finlandia’s Annual Finnish Independence Day Observance being held at the Finnish American Heritage Center on Finlandia’s campus!
