Student PTA Club President presents March 12 fundraiser Soup for Soles

March 11, 2022

Tabin FilizettiIn this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays, Student PTA Club President Tabin Filizetti joins the show to talk about Soup for Soles. The PTA Club fundraiser, being held tomorrow, March 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center, aims to provide shoes to local children in need and donate proceeds to the national non-profit organization Shoes4Kids.

“We’re selling tickets right now or you can buy tickets at the door,” Filizetti said. “Soup for Soles is the Finlandia Student PTA Club’s way of fundraising for others. We’re inviting community members, campus members to come purchase different types of soups. So, we have chicken noodle, vegan autumn squash, chili, creamy ham and potato, and they’re all going to come with a bread roll, an assortment of cookies, and lemonade and coffee.”

The event will include a silent auction with crafts and services donated by local artists and businesses. Patrons can also participate in a “special raffle” by purchasing a ticket at the door or donating a new or gently used pair of shoes for children ages 13 and under. Meals will be made to-go. All campus and community members are invited to come and enjoy a savory soup lunch. Flyer available here.

In the episode, Filizetti also talks about his experience in Finlandia’s 2+2 PTA & Healthcare Management program and his work-study role in the University’s Marketing Department as a Social Media Ambassador.

“It helps me get out and look at more of the campus from a different perspective, instead of just a student.”
