Finlandia Nursing receives accreditation through 2032

Finlandia University Nursing is pleased to announce that its program has received national reaccreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The program offers two tracks, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an Online RN-BSN Completion Track. The renewed accreditation was granted for 10 years, indicating that the program has consistently demonstrated quality and effective educational practices.

On-campus student, employee vaccine clinic Thursday, Jan. 27

Sponsored by Western Upper Peninsula Health Department (WUPHD), Finlandia Nursing will be hosting a free on-campus COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Thursday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m located in the Hirvonen Hall gymnasium. FinnU students and employees will be able to receive a Moderna vaccine, which can be used as a Pfizer booster, or a one-shot J&J vaccine.

MLK Day of Service postponed

MLK Day of Service at Finlandia University is a day to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. through community service and volunteering. This year, out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, MLK Day activities originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 17 have been postponed. Martin Luther King Day will still be a day of observance and classes will be suspended for the day.

Michigan Army National Guard, WUPHD, and Finlandia Nursing team up to support U.P. healthcare workers, encourage vaccine and testing

On Sept. 28, Finlandia will be hosting a free COVID-19 vaccine and testing clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center. The event is open to the public, vaccinated or unvaccinated, with antigen test results available within 15 minutes. Members of the Michigan Army National Guard, Western Upper Peninsula Health Department and Finlandia Nursing program will all be on-site to assist and administer tests and vaccines.

Free on-campus vaccine clinic Thursday, September 23

Sponsored by Upper Great Lakes Health, Finlandia University will be hosting a FREE on-campus vaccine clinic in Nikander Room 14A (Health Center) on Thursday, September 23. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., FinnU students and employees are able to receive either the Moderna (first or second dose) or the Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccine.

Growth at Finlandia, largest incoming class in five years

This fall, Finlandia University’s overall enrollment grew by six percent with the on-campus student population increasing by nine percent. This full-time-equivalent growth brought 25 more students to campus than in fall 2020, giving Finlandia an enrollment of 430. The fall 2021 incoming class is the largest since 2016 with Finlandia’s International School of Business realizing an all-time high of 137 degree-seeking majors. Women’s Soccer becomes first team to meet FinnU Vacc to School Challenge

Finlandia Women’s Soccer program achieved their first goal of the year by reaching a teamwide 80 percent vaccination status. This goal came as part of the FinnU Vacc to School Challenge, which includes the campus-wide objective of reaching a vaccination status of 70 percent. For athletics, reaching that mark at the team level means maskless practices and travel.

Semester Textbook Awards open until August 7

The FinnU Vacc to School Challenge, which will provide free textbooks for the semester to 10 Finlandia students, is open to submissions until August 7.  To apply, students are asked to submit their full or partial (1st shot) vaccination card. Winners will be announced on August 20 at a live drawing event during Convocation. The award will be redeemable for either semester during the 2021-2022 school year.
