Learn all about Fall 2020 with FinnU’s New Fall 2020 Web Pages

Finlandia is excited to launch its new Fall 2020 web pages just in time for the new semester. Students, employees and community members can conveniently find information as it pertains to their group on the new pages. Finlandia University President Philip Johnson addressed students in an email on June 5, regarding Finlandia’s safe open commitment as a university.

Michigan Tuition Grant Reinstated, Increased by State Legislature

Students across the state of Michigan can finally breathe easier now that the Michigan Tuition Grant has been reinstated. 

Governor Whitmer signed the supplemental state budget on December 20 which included the reinstatement of the Michigan Tuition Grant. Recently, it was being utilized as a political pawn in budget negotiations and the future of it was uncertain leaving students and universities in limbo as to whether key funding would be provided. Finlandia mourns loss of former president, Robert Ubbelohde

Finlandia University is saddened to announce the passing of former university president, Robert Ubbelohde.

Ubbelohde joined Finlandia, then Suomi College, in 1988 as the Dean of Faculty. Shortly after, he was appointed to President and Professor of Philosophy until his retirement in 2007. Ubbelohde was instrumental in converting Suomi College into Finlandia University, a baccalaureate degree granting institution.

Table Tennis Tournament brings back youthful memories for President Johnson

President Philip Johnson has a long history with table tennis, as he has been playing since grade school. He grew up with four older sisters, and a ping pong table always in the basement.

“My sister, Beth, was the one closest to me in age, and the one that I played the most. She was the most competitive,” President Johnson explained. “We used to play all the time growing up.”

Open to students, faculty and staff

Prizes First Place = $100 Second Place = $75 Third Place = $50 Fourth Place = $25 An additional $25 to first through fourth finishers who beat President Johnson
