Voices wanted! Singers needed for Thanksgiving worship

The campus community is invited to sing during the Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 20 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock.

Those interested are invited to rehearse at any of the following rehearsal times, though attending all of them is not required, but encouraged. The rehearsals will take place at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Quincy Street in Hancock.

Nordic Film Series to show biographical drama The Girl King

Queen Christina of Sweden’s reign lasted only a decade in the 17th century, during a time when her nation was engaged in one of the most destructive conflicts in European history. Her story is so intriguing, it captured the interest of several filmmakers.

Jessie Fleury’s Traces to open Nov. 3 at Reflection Gallery

Upper Peninsula artist Jessie Fleury will be exhibiting Traces at the Reflection Gallery at Finlandia University beginning with an opening reception on Thursday, November 3 at 11:30 a.m.

SLH residents participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

Keep an eye out for the girls in the Servant Leadership House during the week leading up to Halloween. They are once again participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF , so have your spare change ready! Some of the girls will even be in costume.

“Last year with four participants, we raised $42,” student Gina Geliche said. “We stuck pretty close to campus last year, but we will be venturing beyond the borders a little more this year as we have more people collecting.”

Wittenberg named Director of Athletics at Finlandia University

Finlandia University has promoted Curtis Wittenberg to the position of Director of Athletics, effective immediately. He had been serving as Associate Director of Athletics and Compliance.

PTA student highlighted in local news broadcast for unique story

Finlandia University Physical Therapist Assistant student Makayla Mayo was featured on WLUC TV6 this week for her unique story of overcoming health issues to achieve personal and academic success.

TRiO-Talent Search is looking for student volunteers

TRIO-TS, a grant funded program hosted by Finlandia University that assists students in 16 local schools who come from modest income homes and/or will be the first person in their family to attend college. Starting this year, TRIO-TS will be running an 8th grade Mentoring/Tutoring Program, featuring college students as the mentors/tutors. Time commitment ranges, with a minimum of 2-2.5 volunteer hours/month.

Requirements for students looking to fill the mentor/tutor role are:
