Carolyn Dekker nominated for The Pushcart Prize for essay, “October Pomegranates”

Creative Nonfiction may be new to Dr. Carolyn Dekker, Assistant Professor of English, but you’d never know it based on her piece, “October Pomegranates.” The college essay, which was recently nominated for The Pushcart Prize, focuses on what it’s like to live in the north country and the contrast between living life and teaching literature here at Finlandia University.

Brittany Wadaga ’16 begins Nurse Practitioner position in Hancock clinic

Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center (UGL) has welcomed Finlandia University alumna Brittany Wadaga, NP, to their team of family medicine providers. She will be serving patients at UGL’s Hancock Family Health Center – Family Practice and will also assist with seeing patients at other UGL locations as needed.

Finlandia University announces Beihai University of Art & Design as first sister school in Asia

Finlandia University is proud to announce further growth to an already fruitful relationship with Beihai College of Arts and Design in Beihai China.

Dance class open to community members

There’s no better way to keep warm during the winter months than to dance, and there’s no better opportunity to learn some new dance steps than through a social folk dance class at Finlandia University.

This Finlandia University wellness course is open to community members. For just $50 per person, you can learn traditional Finnish folk and other social dances including waltz, polka, fox trot, two-step, jenkka, contra, and square dances in a safe and fun environment.

The Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center resumes January 10 with a Finnish documentary that will uplift the spirits of the audience and kick off the 2019 Heikinpäivä festival.

Finnish American Heritage Center to be featured in TV6’s “A Finnish Christmas”

The roots of Finnish heritage in the Upper Peninsula will be explored in a program called “A Finnish Christmas” this holiday season on TV6 and Fox U.P.
