Renee O’Neill has joined the Hirvonen College of Health Sciences faculty as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. O’Neill earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Webster University in St. Louis and her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. This will be her first year teaching at the university level and she looks forward to getting to know the other staff and students during the fall semester.

This fall, Finlandia University’s overall enrollment grew by six percent with the on-campus student population increasing by nine percent. This full-time-equivalent growth brought 25 more students to campus than in fall 2020, giving Finlandia an enrollment of 430. Aliina Radcliff has joined Finlandia’s College of Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. Radcliff has a strong background in the field with 36 years of nursing experience, the majority of that experience in the operating room and preoperative services.

Finlandia University has recently hired Melanie Thurmond as its College of Health Sciences Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Director and Assistant Instructor.
Thurmond (’06) attained an associate’s degree from Finlandia’s PTA program and a bachelor’s degree from DeVry University in Finance. In addition, Thurmond holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Findlay, an opportunity provided by Finlandia’s graduate pathway toward the DPT program.
