Grand opening of Hirvonen Hall | Photo Gallery

On Saturday, July 23, dozens of Hancock Central High School alumni gathered on the steps of Hirvonen Hall for an all-class photo at the building’s grand reopening ceremony. The former Hancock Public Schools building now serves as the proud home of Finlandia’s professionally accredited health sciences offerings.

Following the class photo, Finlandia President Tim Pinnow greeted those in attendance:

Finlandia to host grand opening of Hirvonen Hall July 23

Finlandia University is pleased to announce that it will host a grand opening of Hirvonen Hall on Saturday, July 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Now home to Finlandia’s College of Health Sciences programs, the iconic former Hancock Public Schools building also serves as the location of the Finlandia Lions Esports Arena, in addition to multiple local businesses situated on the fourth floor.

17 receive Hancock Promise for Fall 2022

At Hancock Central High School’s Senior Awards Night on May 17, Finlandia’s Education Partner Manager and Dual Enrollment Advisor Lauren Huested proudly presented 18 students with awards and scholarships to attend FinnU in Fall 2022. Jaidyn Laroe was the sole recipient of the free full tuition Rise Together Scholarship and 17 received the Hancock Promise.

Hancock Promise application deadline extended to May 1 for Hancock grads

Finlandia’s Hancock Promise deadline has been extended to May 1. This means Hancock Central High School students who are interested in attending FinnU in Fall 2022 will have additional time to start their application process.

The Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of up to only $2,500 per school year. Beginning in 2009, approximately 18-26 students have taken advantage of the program annually.

Student Spotlight: Gavin Mackey, Graphic Design

Sophomore Gavin Mackey, a graphic design major and Hancock local, has two favorite things; computing and art. Ever since Mackey was in his early teens, he was messing around in Adobe Photoshop creating pixel art and posters. His love for graphic design spiraled from there.

Fall 2021 Hancock Promise recipients announced

Through an educational collaboration between Finlandia University and Hancock Central High School, the Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of up to only $2,500 per school year. Hancock Central held their graduation ceremony Saturday, May 29, following a senior parade that proceeded down Quincy Street. Finlandia University is pleased to announce a seven year extension of the Hancock Promise (formerly Finlandia Promise or Hancock Award) between the Hancock school district and university. The Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of up to only $2500.00 per school year.
