Dowling (’10) joins as PTA Instructor for College of Health Sciences

Alumna Sami Dowling (‘10) joined Finlandia’s Hirvonen College of Health Sciences this fall as an instructor for the university’s Physical Therapist Assistant program. Dowling has 11 years of licensed clinical experience and many more years of observation.

Finlandia hires new PTA Program Director

Finlandia University has recently hired Melanie Thurmond as its College of Health Sciences Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Director and Assistant Instructor.

Thurmond (’06) attained an associate’s degree from Finlandia’s PTA program and a bachelor’s degree from DeVry University in Finance. In addition, Thurmond holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Findlay, an opportunity provided by Finlandia’s graduate pathway toward the DPT program. New College of Health Sciences building renovations to be completed for Fall 2020

The former Hancock High School (featured pre-renovation) will be the new location for FinnU’s College of Health Sciences beginning in Fall 2020.

Finlandia’s College of Health Sciences will have a new home in time for the Fall 2020 semester. College of Health Sciences Donates PPE to Local Organization for Covid-19 Efforts

The Finlandia University College of Health Sciences is assisting in the fight against Covid-19 by donating supplies, usually reserved for class instruction, to local organizations. The CHS donated over 2800 gloves and 170 masks in addition to caps, gowns and hand sanitizer to Gardenview Assisted Living & Memory in Calumet as they work to protect their residents and staff.

FinnU’s New 2+2 PTA Program

On this episode of Finlandia Fridays host, Olivia Myers is joined by senior Jayson Dahlquist and administrative coordinator for clinical education, Nicole Polakowski. Sherry Wyeth joined the Finlandia University’s College of Health and Science recruitment staff this past semester. Her expertise in building relationships translates directly to university admissions work.

The Finlandia University Bowl for Kids team is officially looking for members and baked good donations. Physical Therapist Assistant Program Page Updated

Finlandia University’s physical therapist assistant (PTA) program is the latest recipient of an updated academic program page.

Much like previously updated academic program pages, the physical therapist assistant program page is geared more toward incoming and prospective students. The updated page features videos highlighting the program from the perspective of faculty and alumni. There is also an emphasis placed on visuals throughout the page, showing visitors what to expect from the PTA program.
