FinnU’s New 2+2 PTA Program

February 14, 2020

On this episode of Finlandia Fridays host, Olivia Myers is joined by senior Jayson Dahlquist and administrative coordinator for clinical education, Nicole Polakowski. The group discussed the new PTA 2+2 program that allows students to receive their associate’s degree in PTA and continue on to receive their bachelor’s in Liberal Studies. With this program students the opportunity to move on a Doctor of Physical Therapy program if they choose.

“The 2+2 came about because of students like Jayson, who are PTA students who want to do a two-year program,” said Polakowski. “They all think they want to do fast and furious but, once they get out into the field they realized that they want to go on to be DPT, which is the Doctor of Physical Therapy.

“This program allows them to come to Finlandia and get their associates degree in PTA and carry on to get a bachelor’s in Liberal Studies, so they could transition into a DPT program.”

The PTA 2+2 program, paired with Liberal Arts allows students to focus on pre-DPT or pre-Med. This will allow students to continue their education after graduation in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program or Medical Doctor license. This program allows students to stay at FinnU while taking their pre-requisites, saving time and money.

The PTA associates degree can also be paired with healthcare management or sports management. Learn more about the PTA program here.
