Finlandia University will not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year
On Thursday, March 2, Finlandia University’s Board of Trustees announced that Finlandia will not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year. The decision follows months of continuous efforts to find pathways for the University to continue its mission.

Since 1989, the Houghton and Hancock communities have been celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the Keweenaw. We are excited to continue that tradition on September 17th!

Pinnow’s presidency begins
The 17th President of Finlandia University, Tim Pinnow, has spent his first two weeks in office focusing on the things that matter the most – community.

Teresa Hill joins Human Resources staff
Finlandia is pleased to welcome Teresa Hill as the University’s new Human Resource Generalist. Hill began her duties in April with FinnU’s Human Resources Department.
Shortly after attaining a Bachelor of Science in History from Central Michigan University, Hill began her career in Human Resources. In addition to her Professional Certification in Human Resource Management from Michigan State University, Hill brings more than 15 years of experience to the new position.

Finlandia University names Tim Pinnow as next president
Finlandia University has elected Tim Pinnow, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), as its 17th president following a unanimous vote by the University’s Board of Trustees. He will assume his presidency on July 1, 2022.

MESSA is fully covering all testing and treatment for COVID-19, as well as the vaccine, for all MESSA members and their covered dependents through the end of 2021.

Business Office Moves to Jutila Center
The Finlandia University Business Office has moved from Old Main to the seventh floor of the Jutila Center. The Business Office is comprised of the Chief Financial Officer, Gary Black, accountants Cyril FoxPetrov and Albert Hammond, and administrative assistant and purchaser Janine Notke.

Lauren Huested and Jason Dart Join Admissions Office
Lauren Huested and Jason Dart joined Finlandia’s admissions team as enrollment officers in the beginning of October.
Both Huested and Dart spent the earlier years of their lives in southern Michigan, with Dart being from Lansing and moving to Virginia when he was 13, and Huested growing up in the town of Newago, about an hour away from Grand Rapids. Marie Bonenfant Moves Back to Financial Aid

Marie Bonenfant (‘13) recently moved back to the Financial Aid office of Finlandia University as a Financial Aid Counselor.
She worked in the Financial Aid Office previously, then moved over to North Wind Books for a short time, but is now working as a Financial Aid Counselor once again.
