Student Nurses Association hosting breakfast benefit for Omega House

The Finlandia University Student Nurses Association (FUSNA) is hosting its second annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, February 24 at Gloria Dei Church in Hancock from 8 a.m. to noon. The proceeds will benefit the Omega House in Houghton.

Tickets will be available at the door for a $5 donation per person. Carry out is available, and all of those in attendance are invited to participate in a raffle.

Senior nursing student and women’s hockey captain, Sierra Meiners visited Finlandia Fridays this week to discuss the women’s hockey team and her final year in the nursing program. Meiners was named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association’s (NCHA) Offensive Player of the Week this past week. Student PTA Club hosting Soup for Sneakers is Saturday

The Finlandia University Student Physical Therapist Assistant Club is hosting its annual Soup for Sneakers event on Saturday, October 21 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Finnish American Heritage Center.

Finlandia ranked among 30 most affordable online bachelor’s in nursing degrees from private colleges

Finlandia University has been ranked among the 30 most affordable online bachelor’s in nursing degrees from private colleges by Best Degree Programs. The ranking was published on the organization’s website in August.

Finlandia University was ranked 26th. This ranking was created using the National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator database. Nathan Ekdahl joins medical assistant program as instructor

Finlandia University’s Medical Assistant Program welcomed back a familiar face this fall as alumnus Nathan Ekdahl came back to the program to serve as an instructor and practicum coordinator.

“I wanted to join Finlandia University to continue to help others further their education,” said Ekdahl, an advocate for the healthcare profession. “A career in healthcare will always be needed as our population ages. I’m excited to start my journey here at FinnU.”

Student Senate President Charles Patch kicks off second season of Finlandia Fridays

This week Finlandia Fridays is joined by Student Senate President Charles Patch. Finlandia’s Medical Assistant program receives continued accreditation

This summer the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) informed Finlandia University of its vote to award continuing accreditation to the university’s Medical Assisting Associate Degree program.

“The commission commends you and your colleagues for your commitment to continuous quality improvement in education, as demonstrated by your participation in program accreditation,” President of the CAAHEP Carolyn O’Daniel, EdD, RRT said in a letter.
