Swinging away with Aubrey Havlichek and Finlandia volleyball

This week Finlandia Fridays is joined by its first guest from the Finlandia University athletics department, head volleyball coach Aubrey Havlichek. Havlichek is in her first season as head coach for the women’s volleyball team here at Finlandia after taking over as interim coach early during the 2016 season. It’s On Us Week of Action with Erin Barnett on Finlandia Fridays

This week Finlandia Fridays was visited by Dean of Students Erin Barnett to promote the campus wide It’s On Us campaign. It’s On Us is a national campaign that was started by former Vice President Joe Biden that raises awareness for sexual assault. Finlandia was awarded a grant from the Michigan State Police to advocate the campaign. Collin Saint-Onge previews Finlandia Preview Day

This week on Finlandia Fridays, Finlandia alumnus and admissions officer Collin Saint-Onge talks about Finlandia Preview Day. Starting at 10 a.m. on October 7, Finlandia Preview Day will take prospective students around the campus to see what life is like at Finlandia. The university was introduced to Patch at opening convocation, which took place on August 27, the Sunday before classes started. On this season’s final episode of Finlandia Fridays, the weekly interview series features student representative Matt McLaughlin. Each year one outstanding senior is chosen as the student rep. To be eligible, a student must maintain a 3.9 GPA and be actively involved with the FinnU campus.

This week on Finlandia Fridays, professor Dr. Claudia Youakim and senior sociology major Hailee Johnson join the program to touch on a very compelling capstone project through the Suomi College of Arts & Sciences (SCAS). SCAS Capstones are projects completed and presented upon by students here at Finlandia University. Christopher Dennis talks criminal justice and his internship with government

This week Finlandia Fridays sits down with criminal justice student and Houghton native Christopher Dennis. After his tenure with the Marines, Dennis was looking for a way to make an impact on the community and remain a leader. His decision was to attend Finlandia University and become heavily involved with campus clubs and other events such as local tutoring. Dennis has recently accepted a unique internship working with the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
