Finlandia business graduates experiencing job market success

Kirsten Berg, an accounting major from Hancock, is looking forward to completing her BBA this fall semester. Although she is still busy finishing her courses, she has already found employment with the Michigan Tech Employees Federal Credit Union in Houghton. Kirsten has accepted a job as an accountant and will be following a career path to transition into the Manager of Accounting and Finance for the MTEFCU.

E-mail system changes are coming

Finlandia University will be making important changes to our e-mail system over the winter holiday break (between semesters). Beginning Wednesday, December 21, we will be migrating our e-mail service to a different e-mail provider. This change is part of our ongoing effort to bring improved technical services to our campus community.

More details will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

In The News: Online dual enrollment highlighted by WLUC

This week WLUC reporter Harri Leigh covered a unique offering of Finlandia University – online dual enrollment courses. These courses are available to students around the world, and for high school juniors and seniors in Michigan it is often available at no charge.

This installment of Finlandia Fridays features a local student by the name of Samantha Richards who transferred into Finlandia from a larger institution. Finnish exchange student gets chance with FinnU football team

Though he’s a native of the country known for ice hockey and other winter sports, Max Poikonen chose a different path – one that led him to the roster of the football team of Finlandia University. Born and raised in the town of Kerava, about 20 miles north of Helsinki, he pursued studies in athletic sciences in Kajaani in the Kainuu region. Hours for Maki Library during 2016 Thanksgiving Break

The Maki Library will be open limited hours during the week of Thanksgiving. Below the hours are listed, and you can also find them anytime by visiting finlandia.edu/library.

2016 Thanksgiving Week Library Hours Monday & Tuesday – 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday & Friday – Closed Saturday – 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday – 3 to 11 p.m.

Thanksgiving residential hall and dining details

Those interested in staying in Finlandia Hall during the Thanksgiving break are invited to do so with no additional fees. However, they must sign up so staff knows who is in the building for safety and security reasons. Sign-up sheets can be found at the front RA office. Those interested in staying should sign up by the afternoon of Monday, November 21.

Donations Needed – ALD partnering with Toys for Tots

Finlandia University’s Alpha Lambda Delta first-year honor society is partnering with Toys for Tots this holiday season, and your help is requested.

November 28 through December 9 toy bins will be played around campus for the campus community to donate toys. Toys for Tots is a program in which it serves to collect toys for needy children that may not have Christmas presents under their trees this year.
