The 2021 Canal Run, set for July 17, is under a week away! Volunteers are still needed and Finlandia students, employees and alumni are all invited to lend a helping hand. Finlandia joins COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge

In participation with colleges and universities across the country, Finlandia University has joined in efforts to end the pandemic by signing up for the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge. Invited by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education, participating colleges make three key commitments to the Challenge:

Finlandia University announces Lake Effect Scholarship

New to Fall 2021, the Lake Effect Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that allows eligible commuting and on-campus living students to enjoy the benefits of cost-sharing education. Meaning, commuting students will have tuition reduced to $2,500 per year, earning their full Bachelor’s degree for $10,000. The $2,500 per year cost-share can also be covered by federal loans, meaning no out-of-pocket cost. Recipients are able to earn their degree now and pay later.

Michigan TRIO Professional Organization Celebrates 50 years

Finlandia University TRIO Pre-College and Student Support Services staff recently participated in the Michigan College Access Programs and Personnel Annual Professional Conference spanning two full days and delivered in a virtual format on May 17 and 18, 2021. The 50th anniversary of the state TRIO organization makes it one of the first state TRIO chapters in the country to charter a formal chapter.

Finlandia Alumni Board raises $15,000 for student textbooks

The Finlandia Alumni Board (FAB) started Giving Day in 2019 determined to give back to current students in the way of textbook awards. Recipients receive a gift certificate to North Wind Books in the amount of $250 to help offset the rising cost of textbooks. 35 students received textbook awards in 2019, with almost $9,000 raised. FAHC to host Juhannus commemoration June 24

HANCOCK, Mich. — Keeping with a tradition that began nearly a decade ago, the Finnish American Heritage Center will host an intimate ceremony to commemorate Juhannus (Midsummer) at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting Giving Day 2021 today, June 16! Giving Day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board seeks to raise $10,000 and are looking to share this message to support their cause. Preparing for the job hunt: students experience employment search through mock job search and interviews

During the 2021 spring semester, the International School of Business collaborated with Finlandia’s new Seaton Center for Vocation & Career to equip graduating seniors with the skills they need to prepare competitive job applications and interview successfully.
