ISAD alum Paige Emily to be featured at K.C. Bonkers

International School of Art & Design alum Paige Emily will be the featured artist on Friday, October 7 at K.C. Bonkers in Hancock. The art show opening will be at 7 p.m., and feature the class of 2016 graduate’s latest paintings.

Study Abroad Workshop to be hosted October 4

Ready to travel to Finland? How about Ireland? Or South America? You’re only a college student once, and now’s your chance to study abroad!

Finlandia University students are invited to learn about all of the study abroad opportunities available to them on Tuesday, October 4 from noon to 1 p.m. at Mannerheim Central during the annual Study Abroad Workshop.

Submissions asked for Second Tuesday Recital Series

The Second Tuesday Recital Series is set to return on Tuesday, October 11 at 12:30 in the Chapel of St. Matthew, and currently submissions are being accepted for performers.

This series is open to anyone who may wish to share a performing arts piece, such as: Music, Drama, Dance, Performance poetry/prose. The number of participants in a Second Tuesday Recital Series is only limited by the half-hour time slot.

The Copper Country Community Arts Center in Hancock will host a potluck dinner and artist presentation, Demystifying Digital Art, by Pamela Kotila on Friday, September 30 at 6 p.m.

Commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation is this weekend

Finlandia University, the Northern Great Lakes Synod, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are hosting an event this weekend titled Commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.

The commemorative event is September 25 and 26th with  most of the events taking place on Finlandia’s campus. Those interested in attending are asked to register early. Program, Refreshments, Sunday Evening Meal and Monday Lunch included for $70 per person.Please arrange your own housing accommodations.

Alums come back to help at Servant Leadership House

It was a beautiful summer day in August when Gary and Jean Terrio made it back to Finlandia’s campus. The five-hour drive from northern Minnesota took its wear, but the end product was well worth all of the pre-trip work and the installation that was about to happen for these proud alumni of the university that went by Suomi College when they were students.

Finlandia gains new Snapchat filter

Quick, pull out your phone, open Snapchat, take that perfect selfie and start swiping. Why? Because the Finlandia University Snapchat filter is officially active!

The filter can be applied to any photo or video taken on Finlandia’s main campus – reaching roughly from the Paavo Nurmi Center to Old Main.

The filter features a Finnish flag-inspired design, and it’s of course free for anyone to use. It was designed by Finlandia’s Creative Director Brad Beaudette.

Minor updates made to 2016-17 Academic Calendar

The 2016-17 Academic Calendar has received some minor updates.

This updated calendar includes the MLK Day of Service (January 16, 2017), a correction to the date for the last day to withdraw with a “W” for the spring semester (Thursday, March 23, 2017) and a correction to the date for the last day to withdraw with a “W” for the fall semester’s first-half of semester classes (Friday, September 30, 2016).
