Taste for Opportunity with Junior Business Student Lindsey Johnson

April 5, 2019

This week junior Lindsey Johnson dropped by Finlandia Fridays to talk about her active presence on campus. Coming from Atlantic Mine, Johnson is studying management and entrepreneurship.

Johnson will be starting an internship with FinnU alum, Marko Luoma, within the next several months. The internship will take place in the FinnZone, which is located on the third floor of the Jutila Center. Johnson will be helping Finnish and American businesses coordinate business strategies. The opportunity came from Johnson’s academic advisor and Dean of the International School of Business, Kevin Manninen, who connected Johnson and Luoma.

Working in the advancement department, Johnson recently curated a new opportunity dubbed A Taste of Success. Taking place in Mannerheim Central, A Taste of Success is a program that brings in alumni for students to interact with. With two programs successfully completed, the next Taste of Success will take place on April 16 with business alum Laura Bianucci. If any alumni are interested in participating in Taste of Success for the 2019-2020 school year, contact Coordinator of External Relations Olivia Myers.

FinnU’s mentorship program is another opportunity Johnson has received from working in the advancement department. Johnson has been working with her mentor Teija Huttunen-Green since the fall. Huttunen-Green is originally from Finland and is a Suomi College alumna. Johnson and Huttunen-Green connected over their love of the outdoors. Huttonen-Green currently works for the Vermont Land Trust, which appealed to Johnson, who mentioned that she would enjoy doing something similar to Huttonen-Green. Johnson highly recommends the program for others students. “Hearing the advice of what you can do after college, I find to be very helpful,” said Johnson, “especially from people who have graduated and are successful.”
