Michigan Army National Guard, WUPHD, and Finlandia Nursing team up to support U.P. healthcare workers, encourage vaccine and testing

On Sept. 28, Finlandia will be hosting a free COVID-19 vaccine and testing clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center. The event is open to the public, vaccinated or unvaccinated, with antigen test results available within 15 minutes. Members of the Michigan Army National Guard, Western Upper Peninsula Health Department and Finlandia Nursing program will all be on-site to assist and administer tests and vaccines.

Free on-campus vaccine clinic Thursday, September 23

Sponsored by Upper Great Lakes Health, Finlandia University will be hosting a FREE on-campus vaccine clinic in Nikander Room 14A (Health Center) on Thursday, September 23. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., FinnU students and employees are able to receive either the Moderna (first or second dose) or the Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccine.

As part of the FinnU Vacc to School Challenge, students are receiving $100 for reporting their vaccines through the FinnU Vacc to School Challenge vaccine reporter. [...]

10 FinnU Vacc to School Challenge Textbook Award winners announced

In July, Finlandia University announced the FinnU Vacc to School Challenge with the goal of reaching a campus wide vaccination status of 70 percent. As part of this challenge, 10 student textbook awards were announced along with the chance for students to win even more prizes. FinnU nursing students, faculty and alumni aid in fight against COVID

While most people hunkered down in their homes last spring at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Finlandia nursing faculty began looking for opportunities to get students involved in the (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

New Student Health Clinic is Officially Open

Finlandia University, in partnership with the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center, has opened its new on-campus student health clinic. The health clinic, located in Nikander 14A, will be staffed by FinnU nursing faculty member and nurse practitioner, Cindy Blake.

Finlandia University’s “A Taste of Success” alumni speaker series will continue on Tuesday, March 26 at noon with nursing alumna Suzanne Miron, RN, MSN, DNP at Mannerheim Central. All students are invited to join.
