Finlandia University, in partnership with the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center, has opened its new on-campus student health clinic. The health clinic, located in Nikander 14A, will be staffed by FinnU nursing faculty member and nurse practitioner, Cindy Blake.
“I am looking forward to offering health services to our campus community,” said Blake. “Behavioral health services as well as sports medicine services will also be available. We want to meet the needs of the students in our campus community.”
Services provided include treatment for basic healthcare needs such as various infections, cold and flu symptoms, minor burns and rashes, minor musculoskeletal injuries and STD testing or exams related to birth control. Rapid tests for the flu, urinary tract infections and mononucleosis are available. Finlandia nursing students will be working alongside Blake and gaining valuable hands-on experience.
The Student Health Clinic accepts a number of different insurance types. Students can even elect to utilize their parent’s insurance by adding it to their Healow account.
There is a sliding fee scale for students who are uninsured or underinsured that offers services at a reduced rate. Students can find more information and apply for the program here. For more information, call 906-483-1705 locations and ask to speak with a financial counselor.
We ask that all patients schedule an appointment at this time. Both onsite and tele-health appointments are available. Appointments can be scheduled online here or at finlandia.edu/healthclinic or by calling 906-483-1060, and same-day appointments are available.
