Six-Person Exhibit “What Will We Inhabit If Not Our Bodies” on Display at Gallery

The Finlandia University Gallery will present a six-person exhibit titled What We Will Inhabit if Not Our Bodies at the Finlandia University Gallery, located in the Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC), Hancock from January 8 to February 12, 2021.  Appointments for a private viewing of the exhibit can be made with Gallery Director Carrie Flaspohler at (906) 487-7500 or by email at gallery@finlandia.edu

Chassell High School Visits Finlandia University’s International School of Art & Design

In the last year, the International School of Art & Design has welcomed local high schools to visit, tour and experience all that the school has to offer.

Students are brought to the campus and get their hands on one of the disciplines within the school of art & design. Previous students have made prints in the fiber studio and Chassell students had the opportunity to test out their hands at making coil pots in the ceramics studio [...]

Brule Art Scholarship announced on Finlandia Fridays

Today on the Finlandia Fridays we have some big news!

Finlandia University announces six $20,000 scholarships for students interested in studying art and design. These art scholarships are made available because of the generous support Finlandia University has received from Elsa and David Brule. To help make this announcement, this week’s guest is Denise Vandeville. Finlandia University’s International School of Art & Design is renowned for its incredibly facilities, ability to bring in professional artists and focus on the Finnish model of education. Emerging artist Kenyon Hansen

Kenyon Hansen, Finlandia University adjunct ceramics instructor, confesses that he wasn’t a particularly motivated high school student … until his senior year when he enrolled in an art class.

“I thought it would be easy and I could slack off,” Hansen said of the art class.
