Relive Graduation Day 2023 at Finlandia University | Photo Gallery & Livestreams

Finlandia University held its final Spring Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 7, honoring 92 graduates in the Class of 2023. Following commencement, a commendation service was held for Finlandia University students, staff, faculty, alumni, neighbors and friends, commending the University and its 126 years of service.

Finlandia honors legacy, Class of 2023 with final commencement and commendation ceremonies

Founded in 1896 as Suomi College, Finlandia University held its final spring commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 7, honoring 92 graduates in the Class of 2023. In March, the University announced the decision to dissolve the institution and not enroll students for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Finlandia to host Service of Commendation Sunday, May 7

Finlandia University’s Spring 2023 Commencement Weekend will culminate on the evening of Sunday, May 7, with a Service of Commendation. The event will be held at 6:00 p.m. in Hirvonen Hall Auditorium.

All Finlandia students, staff, faculty, alumni, neighbors and friends of the University are invited to the service, with hospitality to follow.

Due to Wednesday’s campus closure caused by inclement weather, Prayers for Ukraine at the Chapel of St. Matthew has been rescheduled for March 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Mobile Food Pantry is Back at the Chapel on Dec. 3

On Thursday, December 3, Finlandia University will be hosting another Mobile Food Pantry in the parking lot between Old Main and the Chapel of St. Mattew. Organized through Feeding American West Michigan, mobile food pantries help fill the gap in hunger needs in a community, by supplementing the ongoing work of local pantries with much needed fresh produce, meat, and dairy. The truck coming here on December 3 will hold about 15,000 pounds of such items, [...]

The Table Student Needs Pantry Wish List

The Finlandia student needs pantry, The Table, has released its wish list for the holiday season. Pastor Sarah Semmler-Smith said the following items are needed:

Toilet paper New winter hats and gloves Laundry detergent Deodorant Granola bars Crackers Macaroni and cheese Ramen Gluten free products

Day of Wellness Event Schedule

On November 4, most classes on campus will be canceled so students can focus on their mental health, take a breather, and regroup for the final few weeks of the semester.
