Students at Finlandia University with a business idea are highly encouraged to apply for the free MTEC SmartStart SmartZone program to develop essential entrepreneurial skills. The SmartZone’s approach is designed to educate and guide entrepreneurs through the process of validating and growing their idea. Upon completion of the program, students will have a more in-depth understanding of what it takes to create a manage a sustainable business.

“For Finlandia students or students in general, this program does a great job of growing your business idea, finding where you should direct it, then provide the student with the framework to launch,” said MTEC SmartZone’s Vice President of Business Development,  Jason Mack.

Over the course of six to seven weeks, the SmartStart program will have six separate classes located at the MTEC Powerhouse, along with assignments outside the classroom. Each session lasts about two hours long and is typically held from the hours of 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The work created from the course will ultimately become the content used to present a pitch deck for the students’ business ideas.

The program can begin when three to six teams have been selected through the application process.
