In this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays, Director of Student Engagement and interim Residence Life Coordinator, Alex Hilterbrand, joins the show to talk about student engagement, upcoming campus events, and FinnU clubs and organizations.
“My goal is to create this real sense of community, this real sense of vibrancy, this real sense of identity here at Finlandia, and do that by way of events,” Hilterbrand said.
Highlighting upcoming events such as Mock Rock and Finn Fair, Hilterbrand said she is looking forward to working with student clubs and organizations to help create a feeling of home and community on campus.
“Those are my big goals: How can we create this sense of community and home and belonging? There’s a place for everyone on campus: commuters, students who come from a different country, students who come from across the United States,” Hilterbrand said. “It’s reaching out to everyone and making sure that everyone feels like they belong on campus and that they’re home here on campus as well.”
Hilterbrand also shares insight into the process of starting your own club or organization and how a few new clubs are already sprouting up this fall.
