Abigail Tembreull highlights the Art and Design Program

January 20, 2017

On this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays we are joined by guest Abigail Tembreull. Tembreull discusses an upcoming event, an art competition scholarship she was awarded that included free tuition in Italy, the fact that she was awarded the Brule Scholarship to attend FinnU and other experiences she has encountered during her three years in Finlandia’s International School of Art and Design.

One of many events that the Art and Design program facilitates throughout the year is the Soup and Art Auction. This event takes place on Saturday, January 21, and is made possible by Abigail Tembreullthe Young Women’s Caucus for Art. She outlines that this event is in efforts to raise money for an upcoming trip to Chicago, where the group will be attending the Self Employment in the Arts Conference. The event cost is $10 at the door, and gives you access to all you can eat soup, made by the students, as well as the opportunity to be a part of the silent art auction.

Tembreull is also a recipient of the Brule Scholarship. She notes how wonderful of an opportunity this was for her and how hard she worked putting together a portfolio in efforts to secure the $20,000 award.

This past year she was also awarded a scholarship for her drawing abilities, landing her free tuition for a course in Florence, Italy. “I was mind blown when I found that out (winning the scholarship),” said Tembreull. This scholarship opportunity is one of many that is available to students here at Finlandia University. Be sure to check out all available scholarships at our scholarships page, and speak to your professors to find out about new opportunities.
