TRIO, Tutoring and Learning Center to host Holiday Open House Dec. 8

Holiday Open House returns for all Finlandia students, faculty and staff!

Finlandia’s TRIO Student Support Services and Tutoring and Learning Center will host a Holiday Open House on December 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Events will take place in the TRIO Lounge in Nikander Hall, Room 12.

The open house will include food, games, crafts, and bunches of holiday cheer, with Terri Olsen, Natalie Anderson, and Veronica Horning coordinating festivities.

Student Spotlight: Chris Beyer, Sports Management

Good things come to those who wait. For 21-year-old freshman Chris Beyer, that meant waiting for the right college.

Beyer, a sports management major from Appleton, Wis. spent his first three years out of high school playing junior hockey in Minnesota. The then 18-year-old originally had offers to play college baseball and seriously considered attending Central Michigan University, but ultimately decided to focus on his hockey career. Meet the 2018-19 TLC/TRIO Tutors

TRIO Tutoring Services is excited to introduce the 2018-19 tutors.

The Tutoring and Learning Center offers all Finlandia students free tutoring for help in many general education courses and some upper level courses. The TLC also offers study skill workshops, study groups, computer literacy development, and the use of a small computer lab. FinnU faculty members utilize the TLC to provide students with study aids such as classroom reserve material, review sheets, and past exams.
