All are welcome February 6-10 at Finlandia Hall Café for Diversity Dinner Week 2023!

All week, Finlandia’s student body has been submitting dishes to be considered for one of FinnU’s most loved events, Diversity Dinner. After tallying the results, Dining Services is thrilled to announce this year’s menu.

2023 Diversity Dinner cuisine options will include:

Parade of Nations returns home to Quincy Green

Dozens of Finlandia University students and employees played part in representing nearly 60 countries in Saturday’s Parade of Nations. 

The Parade returned home to Quincy Green this year after being rerouted in 2021. Overlooked by FinnU’s historic Hirvonen Hall, community members gathered as the start of the Parade approached. Celebrating cultural diversity in the Keweenaw, floats and marchers with flags and banners walked down Quincy Street, crossed the Portage Lift Bridge and continued through downtown Houghton. Hirvonen Hall mural raises awareness of mental health

You won’t be able to miss the new addition to the third floor of Hirvonen Hall, a 20-foot canvas painted by campus and community members. The mural, located in Finlandia’s College of Health Sciences building, seemingly appeared out of thin air, but guiding sketches pinned to the wall traced us back to one of the most renowned mural artists in the area, Mariana Nakashima.

Meet Mariana Nakashima, new Administrative Assistant for ISB and SCAS

Joining Finlandia’s staff this fall as the new Administrative Assistant for the International School of Business (ISB) and Suomi College of Arts and Sciences (SCAS) is Mariana Nakashima.

Nakashima attended the University of Toledo while attaining her industrial engineering degree with a concentration in ergonomics. Bringing along years of experience in time management, policies and procedures from work in the auto industry, Nakashima also has experience in teaching Art and Spanish.
