Diversity Dinner is back!

Join us February 6-10 at Finlandia Hall Cafe as we celebrate the unique backgrounds of Finlandia’s community with Diversity Dinner!

All are welcome to Diversity Dinner Week 2023! From 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., February 6-10, Finlandia’s Dining Services will be serving up traditional foods from around the world. Dinners are free for Finlandia University students with a meal plan and $10 for everyone else. Proceeds will be used by Finlandia’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to continue efforts toward diversity and involvement in Finlandia’s neighboring community and at the university.

Anyone interested in suggesting a dish for Diversity Dinner can do so at Finlandia Hall Cafe before Wednesday, February 1. A full list of the week’s cuisine options will be announced by Friday, February 3.

About the episode

In this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays, host Jordan Shawhan sits down with Mariana Nakashima, administrative assistant to Finlandia’s International School of Business and Suomi College of Arts & Sciences. On behalf of Finlandia Dining Services and the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (JEDI), Nakashima announces that Diversity Dinner will be held consecutively over five days in February.

“I think what is special about Diversity Dinner this year is what’s special every year – that it’s always evolving, always changing, it’s very dynamic, and it’s always had reflection of our student body,” Nakashima said. “So this year, for example, instead of doing it one day, we’re going to celebrate it for a whole week.”
