Sports management alum takes job with AHL’s Wild

September 21, 2017

Jason Aldrich (’11) was recently introduced as Equipment Manager and Strength Coach of the American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild, minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild. Aldrich is a 2011 graduate of Finlandia’s Sports Management program, and played for FinnU’s NCAA Division III hockey program.

“My time playing at finlandia is still some of the best times of my life,” Aldrich said. “I made some of my best friends that are still my best friends to this day. I cherish my time there and I feel that it really helped me get to where I am today. We had a lot of success but I think the relationships that I made and have kept are the most important to me.  I would not have the tight knit brotherhood that I have today if it wasn’t for my time at finlandia university.”

The following is an excerpt from the announcement on iowawild.com.

Jason Aldrich begins his first season with the Iowa Wild as Equipment Manager/Strength Coach having been hired in September of 2017. He comes to the Iowa Wild after five years with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He served as the strength and conditioning coach, as well as the Equipment Manager for the Gamblers from 2012-17. Aldrich also worked as a graduate assistant at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, as well as helping out at Finlandia University, Michigan Technological University and the San Jose Sharks (NHL).

Aldrich is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He graduated from Finlandia University in 2011 with a B.A. in Sports Management.
