Olivia Myers takes leading role with alumni efforts

Alumni of Finlandia University are set to see a major upgrade in alumni services as the university has welcomed Olivia Myers to the role of Coordinator of External Affairs. Myers is the lead contact for all alumni relations efforts, is assisting with fundraising activities and is the coordinator of the Jutila Center.

“Olivia has been a shining star on our campus since she arrived,” Vice President of External Affairs Karin Van Dyke said. “Our alumni will love working with her, and already she’s made a positive impact on our efforts to make the Jutila Center a preferred place for small businesses in the Copper Country.”

Myers is an alumna of Indiana University where she graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and a focus in public relations. After graduation she worked two years for a non-profit in Bloomington, Indiana before joining Finlandia’s marketing and communications department late this spring in the role of Marketing Coordinator.

“Finlandia’s small campus has proven to be a wonderful place to work and make a difference in people’s lives,” Myers said. “I am truly looking forward to getting to know our alumni all over the world and help them better connect with Finlandia and help Finlandia better connect with them.”

One of her first activities in the new role is organizing Homecoming 2018, which takes place the first week of October. She’s also the host of a new podcast, Leading the Pride. In that podcast, she has extended conversations with alumni as they share their unique Finlandia story and talk about what they’ve accomplished since graduating.
